This is the World Vision initiative that our local San Diego Women of Vision chapter has been raising funds to support - helping bring positive change to women and girls in poverty.
My mailbox isn't worthy of a photo. It is very plain and not picturesque, but the view across from my mailbox is beautiful and makes me smile each morning as I drive past.
"Season"
It's spring and I just bought myself a hummingbird feeder and now I have lots of beautiful visitors.
We tried getting a successful family picture at Christmas and had a very difficult time. This is the one where everyone was smiling the best, but unfortunately Arianna chose that exact moment to adjust the strap on her dress. These are the things that make memories, though, and we'll be laughing about as we look back at our pictures over the years.
Okay, so you can't exactly tell from the picture that underneath all those greens, the tamale has been "broken" open, but there it is. I made tamales for supper last night for the first time ever and they turned out quite well, which was an accomplishment in itself.
Who needs to drink soda when you can have sparkling water instead? Just add some 100% fruit juice of your choosing to the sparkling water over ice and you have a lovely, guilt-free "soda".
For a family that loves Kalamata olives, this is a gold mine.
Baba Ghanouge and Hommos (Hummus)
More hummus
One of our local Mexican grocery stores that is very nearby also has a large Middle Eastern food section. We love to make hummus platters and eat falafel, so this discovery was wonderful and also pretty surprising, considering the store is primarily a Mexican market that evens has its own tortilleria in it. You can buy everything from a piƱata for your next party to hummus imported from the Middle East at our local Valley Max. It's so much fun finding local treasures, especially ones of the culinary kind.
